EPA 608 practice test: 50 original EPA Section 608 exam questions with answers and explanations, covering all four sections: Core (ozone depletion, Clean Air Act and Montreal Protocol, recover/recycle/reclaim, cylinders, safety, sales restriction), Type I small appliances (5 lb or less, 90%/80% or 4 in. Hg recovery), Type II high-pressure (leak testing, evacuation levels, major repairs, leak repair triggers, psig to psia) and Type III low-pressure chillers (purge units, 10 psig leak test, vapor before liquid, 25 mm Hg absolute). As of October 2026: technicians who maintain, service, repair or dispose of equipment that could release refrigerant must be certified under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act; tests are given by EPA-approved certifying organizations; each section has 25 questions and certifying organizations require 70% (18 of 25) to pass each section; Universal is 100 questions; Type II, Type III and Universal tests are closed book and proctored; and EPA says Section 608 certification does not expire. Our 40-of-50 target is a planning estimate, not an official score. Questions are original, not real exam questions. Not affiliated with the U.S. EPA or any certifying organization.
