PSAT scores explained for fall 2026. The PSAT/NMSQT is scored 320 to 1520 (two sections, 160 to 760 each), and the NMSC Selection Index runs 48 to 228. When do PSAT scores come out? As of October 2026, College Board releases fall 2026 in-school scores in three waves: October 22, November 5 and November 12, depending on when your school submitted answers. What's a good PSAT score? College Board's 11th-grade benchmarks are 460 Reading and Writing and 510 Math (430 and 480 in 10th grade). We cover how the adaptive test is scored, percentiles and score ranges, how to get your scores in the BigFuture School app, reading your score report, the Selection Index formula with a worked example, and National Merit cutoffs: about 1.3 million entrants, 50,000 high scorers, about 34,000 Commended Students and 16,000+ Semifinalists chosen state by state. Cutoff figures shown are unofficial, past-year (class of 2027) numbers reported by a test prep company; NMSC sends cutoffs to schools, not the public.
