Free ITIL 5 Foundation practice test
The seven ITIL guiding principles with plain-English examples and exam clue words (the names are ITIL's, the explanations are ours): focus on value, start where you are, progress iteratively with feedback, collaborate and promote visibility, think and work holistically, keep it simple and practical, optimize and automate. ITIL's own articles say the principles first appeared in ITIL v3 Practitioner guidance in 2016 and became central from ITIL 4 Foundation; PeopleCert's Foundation syllabus (v5.0, February 2026) puts them in the value system category (40% of the exam) and asks candidates to understand how each is used and how they interact. Includes a cheat sheet for similar-sounding principles, two common tensions, five rapid-fire stories and a study tip. Then renewal per PeopleCert (read October 2026): ITIL Foundation (Version 5) certificates carry a three-year renewal date; renew with PeopleCert Plus CPD (20 points a year for three years, 60 in all; Plus is US$133 a year incl. VAT), by passing another certification in the same suite, or by retaking the same one; ITIL 4 holders renew by passing any Version 5 certification (the Foundation Bridge exam bundle is US$263). Where certificates lead: Practice Manager, Managing Professional, Strategic Leader, ITIL Master; ITIL Transformation; AI Governance; Managing Professional Transition. Three check questions with answers. Independent guide, not affiliated with PeopleCert or AXELOS. ITIL is a registered trademark of PeopleCert.
